Accounting

Clean books, VAT-correct from the first entry

Every invoice, bill, bank line and payroll run lands in one ledger with the Philippine chart of accounts already set up. Your bookkeeper gets reports they can file from — not a spreadsheet to rebuild.

Everyday accounting

  • Receivables that add up

Terms and due dates on every invoice, payments applied across invoices in part or in full, and an A/R aging that ties back to the ledger. Voids reverse; nothing is deleted.

  • Bank reconciliation that ends

Import the statement, match lines to entries, and reconcile to the ending balance. What doesn't match is listed, not buried.

  • Expenses and bills with input VAT

Record a receipt or a bill once. Input VAT is extracted per line, and the bill is due when your vendor says it is.

  • Inventory at FIFO cost

Stock on hand and cost of goods sold are costed first in, first out, so gross margin means something. Bills and expenses add stock at cost.

  • Invite your bookkeeper

Their own sign-in to your books, no shared password. Payroll detail stays with owners and admins unless you grant it.

Month-end

Close a month in four moves.

  1. 01

    Match the bank

Statement lines on one side, book entries on the other. Most pair up on amount and date; you confirm the rest.
  2. 02

    Catch the stragglers

Receipts become expenses in the right account, with input VAT pulled out of every line.
  3. 03

    Check the VAT

Output VAT from sales, input VAT from purchases, and the difference payable — with the documents behind each figure.
  4. 04

    Hand it over

Profit and loss, balance sheet and books of accounts, exported to Excel for your bookkeeper.

Questions about accounting

Is it accrual or cash basis?

Both. The books are kept on an accrual basis, and reports can be viewed on a cash basis when you or your bookkeeper need it.

Does inventory follow FIFO?

Yes. Cost of goods sold is computed first in, first out, so each sale is costed at the oldest stock still on hand.

Can my bookkeeper work in my books?

Yes. Invite them with their own sign-in and give them the books, reports and Excel exports without handing over your password. Payroll stays with owners and admins unless you grant access.

Does Talaan file my VAT return?

No. Talaan prepares the VAT worksheet and the books of accounts your return is based on. Filing and payment still happen through the BIR's channels, by you or your bookkeeper.

Which chart of accounts does it start with?

One set up for Philippine sellers: output and input VAT, creditable withholding, inventory and cost of sales are there from day one. You can add your own accounts, sub-accounts included.
